It is recommended to perform a factory reset on a fridge before assessing for fault, as altered fridge settings outside the scope of what is covered in the manual may lead to a variety of issues.
To perform a factory reset for plastic-case portable fridges, in case you have a problem:
- On standby (plugged in but power off), press the set key until the display shows E1.
- Press + and – simultaneously until the display shows -188 (or 888 or 000)
- Press the power button to restart
The fridge should then be left on for a minimum of 5 minutes to allow the compressor time to start up before troubleshooting can begin.
For the Stainless Steel portable fridges (e.g. GH1646), do as follows:
- Press the power button to turn off the unit.
- Press + Hold the 'Compressor Speed' button until 888 appears on the temp displays.
- Pres the power button to finalise.
All temps and settings will be set back to default.
If the fridge displays an error code, for example E1, please refer to the below table.
Error | Fault | Common Fix |
F1 | Battery protection mode | There are 3 levels of battery protection. The default is H(igh) and offers the best protection, however, may cause issues when running from a battery or vehicle using a long lead. To adjust the protection mode, press Set for 3 seconds, screen flashes H. If error code F1, set to M(edium) or L(ow). |
F2 | Fan overload protection mode | Switch it off for 30 minutes to allow the system to cool down. Please ensure there is adequate ventilation around the fan vents. |
F3 | Compressor frequent start protection mode | Switch it off for 30 minutes to allow the compressor to cool down. Ensure the fridge is stored out of direct sunlight in a cool area. Make sure the vents are not covered by nearby obstructions and air can flow into and out of the vents. |
F4 | Compressor is overloaded mode
F5 | Compressor high temperature protection mode
F6 | Controller detection error | Switch off and then on again after a minute. If issue persists a connection may be loose due to vibration or a manufacturing issue. |
F7 | Temperature sensor error | faulty sensor terminal, refer instructions. |
